Joint Development Agreements

A joint development agreement sets the terms for multiple parties working together to develop something. JDAs are a fact of life for businesses because more and more companies are building stuff with more and more other companies, all over the world.  Without the right JDA in place, when the development is complete and the relationship ends, you may find yourself spending time and money litigating for rights you thought you already had.  And at the end of it all, the court might decide that everything you’ve built is owned by your partner.  Can this really happen?  Absolutely!  It happens to naive joint development partners way too often.  You need to understand the fundamentals of JDAs before entering into any kind of joint development relationship with anyone.
